Exploring Conservation of Nature & Culture in Tanzania

Insights from the Kesho Trust

This 11 day tour explores the natural wonders of northern Tanzania and the culture of the local Maasai people along with the strategies for maintaining the integrity of both. You will get an insider’s look at the challenges of conservation and community development through the eyes of the Kesho Trust that works with local partner organizations to advance cultural and environmental conservation. Through field experience and discussion you will have the opportunity to explore the successes and the challenges of this work in depth with the people involved.

Highlights of the tour include:

Visit to the Maasai villages of Enguserosamb, Naan, Ng’arwa and Orkiu juu

Visits to internationally recognized conservation areas:

  • Serengeti National Park
  • Ngorongoro Conservation Area
  • Lake Natron – wetland conservation area

Field visits and discussion of conservation and community development activities and challenges with villagers and staff of local organizations
