Lake Natron is a large but very shallow lake. The strong influence of mineral rich hot springs as its source results in it being one of the most alkaline lakes in the world. A recognized wetland of international significance, this beautiful and unique environment provides the only significant and regular breeding site for East Africa’s 1.5-2.5 million Lesser Flamingos – three quarters of the world’s population.
