This week in Elerai, the Kesho Trust hosted two village meetings to discuss key environmental issues. The first meeting focused on plastic waste management, while the second, addressed pasture and rangeland resources as well as invasive species control. Participants included village officials, traditional leaders, elders, youth, and teachers.
During these discussions, the community developed action plans for managing plastic waste and protecting pasture and rangelands from invasive species. These plans will be reviewed and finalized at upcoming village meetings. These activities are part of the SCMIKC project, which leverages indigenous knowledge and culture to develop strategies that will aid communities to address climate change impacts, especially relating to drought.
