Interpretive Planning and Training at Elerai Culture Camp

November 12, 2025

Brent Liddle, a Kesho Trust board member and consultant from Canada, recently arrived in Elerai to train local people on interpretive planning, building awareness, appreciation, and understanding of Maasai culture through training as interpretive guides. Upon his arrival, he was introduced to the group by Julius Daniel, Emmanuel Kileli, and a representative of the local partner organization EMAYO, Ms Monica Kurumbe. During his first week, Brent began training on the preliminaries of planning, preparing, and delivery interpretive programming. He also included concept work of the camp for further development. One possibility is creating promotional materials with the help of local trainees.  The work, which has been fully participatory, interactive, and practical, aims to equip local guides with good communication skills and developing a variety of themes and storylines.

This work is part of our Strengthening Maasai Indigenous Knowledge and Culture project, funded by the Global Environmental Facility.
