From mid-October to mid-November, Brent Liddle from Yukon, Canada, volunteered with the Kesho Trust Tanzania. During his one-month assignment, he helped train a group of local Maasai people from Elerai village in the preparation and delivery of interpretive programs, including guided walks and storytelling. With the increased confidence gained in public speaking, the trainees will be able to better communicate the Maasai story to special interest groups visiting their Boma/home village.
The culture camp is in the conceptual planning stage, with hopes that it will bring more interest and support for the Maasai.
While his first assignment ended this year, Brent Liddle is expected to return later in May 2026 for another assignment aimed at further strengthening the camp.
This work is part of our Strengthening Maasai Indigenous Knowledge and Culture project, funded by the Global Environmental Facility.
